Cyrenians (now known as Changing Lives)
£17,420 (2012/2013) towards a one-year participative research project involving male sex workers, to identify policy gaps and influence policy-makers.
In recent years the Newcastle-based Cyrenians have acted to take account of the circumstances, needs and vulnerability of female sex workers. At the same time they and other local agencies, have been trying to work with men involved in sex work. This participative research project, co-funded by Northern Rock Foundation, was intended to highlight the risks of damaging behaviours to individual men, and to influence policy makers and service providers to address gaps in policy and provision. Its initial success persuaded the Trustees of the Millfield House Foundation to continue their support in 2013. At the end of 2013 the Cyrenians changed their name to Changing Lives.
